End of Season Sno Pusher Maintenance

End of Season Pusher Maintenance

For most snow and ice professionals the 2013-14 winter season was one for the record books.  As the season comes to a close it’s important for customers to perform the necessary maintenance to their equipment, including their Pro-Tech Sno Pushers.  Here are some important maintenance and storage tips to remember.

Washing
Salt, chemicals, dirt, and debris that are left on your Sno Pusher over long periods of time can potentially accelerate the wear of your unit. It’s important to wash off your Pro-Tech Sno Pusher before storing it during the off-season.

Inspect Wear Parts
It is important to inspect your Sno Pusher for shoe and rubber wear.  Operating the Sno Pusher with wear shoes that are excessively worn is dangerous and can potentially damage your Sno Pusher.  Make sure that the wear shoes are not worn beyond 3/8″ thick.  Also, remember that Pro-Tech wear shoes are reversible, which allows the shoe to be worn evenly over time.  Inspect both the rubber cutting edge or poly hinge on steel edge units to make sure there is no ripping or cracking.  Rubber holddowns, tensioners, and other parts, depending on your model of Sno Pusher should be inspected and replaced if damaged.  Click here to watch a video on how to change your rubber cutting edge and wear shoes.

Paint
Pro-Tech uses high quality primers and paints on all of their Sno Pusher products. These coatings are at least 4 mil thick, and are qualified using a one thousand hour salt spray test. Eventually your Sno Pusher will needto be re-painted to prevent rust. Spot-check your Sno Pusher and if you are in need of paint Pro-Tech sells both primer and paint in quart and gallon sizes.

Storage
When storing either on the lot or during the off-season make sure the rubber cutting edge(s) and poly hinge(s) Sno Pusher(s) are not exposed to direct sunlight. Extensive exposure to sunlight can prematurely wear your rubber and the poly hinge on steel edge units. During the off-season make sure that your Sno Pusher is stored in a flat, dry area away from high grass, which can grow around the unit and cause corrosion.

Warranty Registration
Registering your Sno Pusher activates the 10 year warranty and ensures that your purchase is protected against possible manufacturing defects. Register your Sno Pusher today by clicking here.
