Still Pushing Strong: Pro-Tech Sno Pusher Celebrates 25 Years

ROCHESTER, NY (January 01, 2018) – Twenty five years ago, Pro-Tech brought their version of the rubber edge snow pusher to market and helped change the way snow removal is commercially managed. This year Pro-Tech celebrates the silver anniversary of the Sno Pusher; a product that helped turn Pro-Tech from a business run out of a garage into North America’s largest manufacturer of containment snow plows.
Before Pro-Tech, snow pushers were commercially used but only by a small number of companies. The snow pushers at the time also varied in quality and efficiency as many of them were home-made, consisting of scrap materials such as modified septic tanks. Pro-Tech’s founder, Michael Weagley, saw an opportunity in the market and decided to design a snow pusher that would be consistent in its longevity and performance.
For commercial snow removal, construction vehicles often sat idle during the winter months and took a backseat to truck snow plows. The introduction of the Sno Pusher allowed contractors to use their large machinery during the winter months and clear snow at a much faster rate compared to trucks. Within several years the Pro-Tech Sno Pusher’s popularity exploded and it was quickly adopted by snow removal companies across the country. This led to Pro-Tech expanding their product lines by making Sno Pushers for skid steers, backhoes, and tractors. The company also began offering different variations of the Rubber Edge Sno Pusher that could be used for specific applications.
Today, Pro-Tech manufacturers over 60 variations of the Sno Pusher as well as skid-steer snow plows.
