ROCHESTER, NY (September 15, 2017) – Earlier this week Pro-Tech joined the Accredited Snow Contractors Association (ASCA) and other key members of the snow and ice industry to meet with legislators in Washington DC.  The yearly Legislative Day on the Hill event is hosted by the ASCA and focuses on informing members of congress and senate about important issues facing snow and ice professionals.  The focal issue for the past several years has been frivolous lawsuits related to slip and fall claims.  These claims have resulted in skyrocketing insurance prices and in many cases lack of available insurance for the industry.

Pro-Tech employees Michael Guggino (President), Joel Englehart (Sales Account Manager), and Ryan Marino (Marketing and Sales Associate) attended the event and reported that the day was filled with productive discussion.  “Pro-Tech is a big supporter of the ASCA and we feel that it’s important for legislators to know the challenges we face as an industry.” said Pro-Tech President Michael Guggino.  “These types of issues can have a ripple effect and negatively impact not only snow and ice professionals but also manufacturers of snow and ice equipment.”

In total 47 meetings were held with legislators from both major parties.  The bill, which has partisan support, has already passed the House of Representatives. Next, it needs to pass the Senate and then be signed by the President. The Bill (HB 720) passed the House 230-188.
